Description
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) requires the fabrication of a complete polarizing cavity and magnetic housing assembly for the General-Purpose Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (GP-SANS) instrument. This upgrade aims to incorporate incident beam polarization capabilities, enabling spin-resolved measurements for studies of magnetic order and spin textures. The assembly will be installed at the GP-SANS instrument and must accommodate the existing collimated beam profile and divergence. Key requirements include specific dimensions, a minimum neutron beam polarization of 95% within a defined wavelength band, and operation in a rough vacuum. The selected vendor will be responsible for fabrication, inspection, packaging, and shipping of the complete polarizer assembly in accordance with the provided specifications. The solicitation is a Request for Proposal (RFP) with offers due on July 24, 2026.
