Description
The Commonwealth of Kentucky is offering a license for the mixed timber harvest and sale at Clay Wildlife Management Area in Nicholas County. The sale covers approximately 112.5 acres and approximately 178.7 MBF of sawtimber, with the successful bidder responsible for harvesting and removing marked timber during permitted cutting windows, following Kentucky Forest Conservation Act best management practices, and obtaining approval for harvest plans, access routes, skid trails, stream crossings, and related operations. The bidder must maintain and restore roads, trails, landings, drainage features, and disturbed areas; protect residual trees, infrastructure, waterways, and public roads; suppress and prevent forest fires; and complete specified habitat improvements. A mandatory $46,356.34 wildlife and forestry equipment purchase is credited against the bid, and an optional habitat-improvement credit is available at $1,000 per acre. The license term is two years from execution, and the winning bidder must provide a $10,000 bond or deposit before operations begin. Bids are evaluated 55% on lump-sum bid amount and 45% on prior work quality based on references.
