Description
Fayette County Public Schools is soliciting proposals for the furnishing and delivery of bulk treated road salt, primarily sodium chloride, for winter snow and ice control operations. The material must be suitable for mechanical spreaders, treated with additives to melt below freezing, contain an anti-caking agent, and meet AASHTO M143 Sodium Chloride Type 1, Grade 1, or the current applicable Kentucky Transportation Cabinet specification. Untreated bulk salt may also be ordered if treated salt is unavailable. The contract is intended to support as-needed purchases of approximately 500–1,000 tons during the winter season, with multiple deliveries generally ranging from 20–25 tons and no guaranteed minimum quantity. Vendors must coordinate deliveries with the district, avoid exceeding approximately 300 tons of available storage, provide emergency delivery capability within 24 hours when reasonably requested, and maintain a 24-hour emergency contact during winter weather events. Proposals must include technical qualifications, at least three similar-delivery references, delivered pricing, and the required certifications and supporting documents. The contract has a one-year initial term with up to four additional one-year renewals.
