Description
Kent State University is soliciting a general contractor for replacement of the Mathematical Sciences Building’s existing life-safety generator and automatic transfer switch. The base work includes a new 350 kW, 480/277V outdoor pad-mounted diesel generator, a 400A closed-transition automatic transfer switch, generator controls, remote annunciation, emergency-stop devices, fuel tank, concrete pads, fencing, electrical feeders, grounding, fire-rated cabling, testing, commissioning, training, and related demolition and site work. The project includes three alternates: removal of the existing generator and associated equipment; installation of an 800A temporary generator connection cabinet and cabling; and a deductive alternate for non-fire-rated conduit and wiring serving the fire-pump generator feeder. Prevailing-wage requirements apply, and the project has a 5 percent EDGE-certified business participation goal. The contractor must provide a bid guaranty, comply with domestic-steel and Ohio regulatory requirements, and complete the work within 375 consecutive days from the Notice to Proceed, with punch-list completion at 405 days and final contract completion at 420 days.
