The U.S. Department of Agriculture requires custom design, fabrication, and installation services to convert one government-furnished 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170-inch Extended 2500 Cargo Van into a mobile engineering field laboratory and quality assurance command center. The requirement is intended for a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract and is not a request for competitive proposals, although responsible sources may submit capability information for consideration. The upfit includes insulation; a cab partition with walkthrough opening; heavy-duty commercial flooring; integrated workstations and cabinetry; specialized shelving and soil-sample storage; auxiliary power and climate-control systems; galley and water systems; durable interior finishes; and safety features. The completed vehicle must support field soil testing, secure transport of sensitive engineering equipment, sample integrity, project-document review, and real-time quality assurance at remote watershed construction sites while preserving safe handling, weight distribution, and the vehicle's 2,500-pound GVWR constraints.
