Description
The Town of West Springfield is seeking a qualified designer under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 7C, Section 44, to provide professional design services for the John Ashley Elementary School project. The initial scope includes a feasibility study and schematic design evaluating renovation, addition, replacement, or potential consolidation with John R. Fausey Elementary School. The study must address alternatives, enrollment and space needs, site and building conditions, code compliance, accessibility, sustainability, traffic and safety, life-cycle costs, project budgets, schedules, and educational programming. The potential consolidated school would serve approximately 545 students plus pre-kindergarten, while the current-configuration study enrollment is approximately 170 students plus pre-kindergarten. Subject to approvals, funding, and amendment, the contract may include design development, construction documents, bidding, construction administration, closeout, and warranty-period services. The estimated total project cost is $84 million to $102 million. Proposers must submit the specified designer application, cover letter, required certifications, consultant information, signed Addendum No. 1, and other required supporting materials. Addendum No. 1 clarifies that the addendum must be signed and submitted with the proposal and provides answers concerning potential consolidation, project delivery, and required consultant disciplines.
