Description
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), is conducting market research to identify contractors capable of providing a 1 Megawatt (MW) box furnace. This furnace will be used in NETL's Burner Laboratory for Alternative Fuels and Zero-Carbon Energy (BLAZE) facility to test multi-burner arrangements with advanced fuels. The equipment is intended to enable the evaluation of burner modifications and flame-to-flame interactions, which is crucial for industries aiming to enhance fuel-flexibility and increase technological resilience. The data obtained from this furnace will be used to validate computational models and facilitate cost-effective retrofits. Responses to this Sources Sought notice should include a detailed description of how the proposed equipment meets the specifications outlined in Attachment A, including specific equipment model numbers. The DOE is seeking information on companies capable of providing this furnace, and this notice is for market research purposes only, not a request for proposals. No contract will be awarded from this announcement, and no reimbursement will be made for costs associated with providing information.
