Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry is soliciting electronic bids for a timber stumpage sale covering 435 acres in seven cutting blocks within Moshannon State Forest. The sale includes approximately 1,006.07 MBF of sawtimber, primarily tulip poplar, red oak, and black cherry, and 214.61 HCF of pulpwood, primarily northern and mixed hardwoods. Cutting treatments include salvage shelterwood and overstory removal. Volumes and quality are estimates and are not guaranteed; bidders must rely on their own estimates. The buyer must perform logging, cleanup, haul-road improvements, and seeding work. Requirements include purchasing and spreading 220 tons of No. 4 limestone, excavating, resetting, and cementing two existing gates, grading, crowning, and ditching haul roads, seeding approximately eight disturbed acres, and supplying specified seed, fertilizer, and lime. Whole-tree harvesting and chipping are prohibited, and seasonal hauling, cutting, and skidding restrictions apply. On-site crew leaders must hold Pennsylvania Sustainable Forestry Initiative Core Level Training cards or accepted comparable training. The contract expires October 31, 2029. The minimum lump-sum bid is $197,132.03, and the successful bidder must provide a bid deposit and performance deposit as specified in the prospectus.
