Description
The City of Suffolk is soliciting sealed bids from a qualified contractor to replace the existing gravel lot at 347 E. Washington Street with a paved public parking lot and landscaped pedestrian plaza supporting the historic Phoenix Bank of Nansemond. The work includes demolition and erosion and sediment control, asphalt paving, curbs and gutters, accessible parking and ramps, concrete sidewalk, pavement markings, lighting coordination, tree wells, sod or seed, trees and shrubs, mulch, and installation of a non-illuminated interpretive sign with a 24-by-36-inch graphic panel. The project provides eight parking spaces, including one accessible space, and must comply with the drawings, specifications, historic-appropriateness conditions, and applicable City and Virginia standards. Bidders must submit the entire Section A, including the bid form, required certifications and acknowledgments, proof of authority to transact business in Virginia, exception page, and bid bond. The bid bond must equal five percent of the total bid amount. The successful bidder must complete the work within 90 calendar days after the Notice to Proceed and must provide performance and labor-and-material payment bonds and insurance after award as specified in the contract documents.
