Description
The project will reclaim a pre-law abandoned coal mine site by regrading spoil piles and backfilling approximately 5,600 linear feet of dangerous highwall and associated impoundments with existing spoil. Work includes clearing and grubbing, dewatering, removal and disposal of tires and debris, earthwork, temporary access roads and staging areas, and construction of sediment basins, drainage channels, culverts, headwalls, and related erosion-control features. The contractor must also maintain traffic and protect the site and public during construction. The scope includes liming, fertilizing, seeding, mulching, and reforestation of disturbed areas, as well as maintenance and removal of temporary sediment-control structures and final site restoration. The project has an engineer’s estimate of $5,899,155.50 and a construction completion date of April 28, 2028. Bidders must attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting to be eligible to submit a bid. The contractor must perform at least 51% of the total work with its own workforce; the project also has a 5% EDGE participation goal.
