Description
The U.S. Air Force is conducting a Request for Information to identify sources capable of providing sustaining engineering and repair support for the modified WC-130J RTP APN-241 weather radar. Required capabilities include engineering studies addressing reliability, maintainability, obsolete parts, diminishing manufacturing sources, and failure trends; installation and troubleshooting; access to Northrop Grumman equipment, databases, and engineering software; and testing to determine real-time rainfall detection capability directly ahead of the aircraft. The effort includes modification and testing of government-furnished radar equipment, an acceptance test procedure and technical report, engineering support during developmental testing, and on-site support at Eglin Air Force Base. The draft work statement identifies one radar configuration upgrade, one scientific and technical report deliverable, up to 320 engineering-support man-hours, and two five-day on-site trips for two engineers. The RFI is for market research only and is not a solicitation or commitment to award a contract; the Government anticipates a sole-source acquisition from Northrop Grumman Corporation.
