Description
The City seeks a contractor to remove snow and ice and apply salt to designated sidewalks, on-street parking spaces, alleys, and crosswalks in the Downtown and South End areas, including Gazebo Island. The contractor must salt during ice events, pretreat before ice events, and salt when snowfall is under one inch; plowing is required when snowfall exceeds one inch. During forecast heavy snowfall, plowing may occur without salting until the event ends. The contractor must communicate with a designated City contact before beginning and after completing work. Quotes must provide per-service fees for the listed combinations of plowing and salting. The contractor bills monthly, with payment due within 30 days of the City's receipt of the bill. A Certificate of Insurance with $2,000,000 coverage must be provided and maintained through May 1, 2027. A performance bond or certified check equal to 5% of the gross bid is required from the awarded bidder as part of the contract, not with the quote. The City may cancel the agreement at any time for dissatisfaction with performance, and any award is conditional on property-owner petitions and City Council authorization.
