Description
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Abandoned Mine Lands program is soliciting bids for construction and reclamation work to improve a passive acid mine drainage treatment system. Work includes rehabilitating existing treatment ponds and a terraced iron-formation ditch; removing, washing, and reusing treatment stone; removing and disposing of pond sludge; constructing a new vertical-flow pond and related drainage, piping, and control components; and installing erosion and sediment controls. The scope also includes site preparation, access road construction, excavation, revegetation, quality control, construction layout, and preparation of as-built drawings. The bid schedule includes specified quantities of stone, geotextile fabric, silt fence, filter bags, pipe, and other materials, as well as lump-sum rehabilitation and construction items. A bid bond equal to 5% of the total bid is required with the bid. Attendance at the pre-bid meeting is mandatory. The apparent successful bidder must provide performance and labor/material payment bonds before contract award; insurance proof and other award-stage requirements also apply.
