Description
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking capability information from vendors that can procure and provide untrained single-purpose detector canines for potential delivery to its Border Patrol K9 and Field Operations K9 training centers. Acceptable breeds include German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Belgian Tervurens, and other approved working, herding, or sporting breeds. Dogs must generally be 10 to 36 months old and meet detailed medical, behavioral, temperament, prey-drive, hunt-drive, socialization, and physical requirements. The anticipated requirement includes transportation, presentation, delivery, evaluation, replacement of non-accepted canines, required medical and lineage documentation, and a six-month warranty for specified pre-existing medical or behavioral conditions. This is an RFI for acquisition planning only, not a solicitation or commitment to award a contract. Respondents must submit a concise capability statement addressing company information, relevant experience, technical capabilities, capacity, understanding of the requirement, and quality-assurance and risk-management practices; the statement is limited to two pages excluding an optional cover page.
