Description
Madison County Schools intends to contract with a vendor(s) to provide a high-quality, cost-effective structured cabling system for the Comer Elementary School addition and renovation project. The scope of work includes the installation of approximately 281 drops, encompassing 68 access point drops, 61 camera drops, 88 data drops, 26 intercom drops, 18 clock drops, 7 outdoor horn drops, 9 door access control drops, and 4 Centegix system drops. The project is divided into two phases: Phase 1 involves the addition of a cafeteria and 6 new classrooms, with low voltage work potentially starting in July 2026. Phase 2 includes the renovation of existing spaces, such as the office and old cafeteria, scheduled to begin in May 2027 and conclude by the end of July 2027. Vendors are required to adhere to specific data cabling guidelines, including the use of J-hooks, Velcro for bundling, sleeves with bushings for wall penetrations, and specific service loop lengths. Preferred materials include Siemon Z-Max Jacks and Siemon Single Gang Faceplates. Cat6 Plenum cable is required for all drops, with specific color coding for different types of drops. Patch panels are preferred to be 24-port, and all fiber trunks must be single-mode, with armored fiber preferred. All cables and endpoints must be clearly labeled using a label maker.
