Description
The City of Iowa City is soliciting proposals for ongoing repair and related services for its 40-foot Gillig Low Floor transit buses. The scope includes transmission repair, rebuilding, replacement, and minor repairs; engine repair, rebuilding, removal, and replacement with Cummins ReCon remanufactured engines; vehicle pickup and return; estimates; labor, equipment, supervision, materials, and related transportation. The vendor must have or access complete facilities, maintain off-street storage for at least two buses, and provide estimates within 24 hours of request. Repairs must begin within 48 hours after receipt of all materials and parts, and completed vehicles must be returned the same day or next business day after completion. The initial contract term is one year, with four additional one-year renewal periods available by mutual consent. The City will evaluate facilities and capabilities, pricing, company experience, customer satisfaction and references, and exceptions to the City's terms. A minimum one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship is required. Proposals must be submitted through the online procurement portal; faxed, emailed, and hard-copy submissions are not accepted. The solicitation requires completion of the Wage Theft Affidavit and online response fields, while the Contract Compliance Form is required only from the awarded vendor.
