Description
The City of Syracuse Department of Public Works is soliciting contractors to supplement municipal snow-removal operations across five residential snow districts. Contractors must provide six-wheel dump trucks or equivalent equipment with ten-foot plows, ballast, tire chains, warning lights, and other specified equipment; vehicles must meet New York registration, inspection, condition, and age requirements. Each vehicle must have a fully licensed Class B commercial driver, and contractors must provide current vehicle registrations and equipment details. The work is a 24/7 seasonal operation from November through April. Contractors must maintain round-the-clock contact availability, mobilize equipment and crews within two hours of notification, perform assigned routes, complete cleanup activities, and promptly repair or replace equipment that breaks down. Subcontracting the snow-plowing work is prohibited. The contract term is two years beginning November 1, 2026, with a possible one-year extension. A $500 bid security is required, and the City guarantees each awarded route a minimum seasonal payment of $6,000, subject to the contract terms.
