Description
The County seeks a qualified veterinarian to manage the health of animal collections at its zoological park and environmental center. The required qualifications include at least five years of experience as the primary veterinarian at an AZA-accredited zoological park or aquarium, with that experience occurring within the past ten years. The veterinarian must provide routine prophylactic examinations, quarterly fecal examinations, parasite-control recommendations, vaccinations, nutrition guidance, quarantine examinations and testing, treatment direction for illness or injury, necropsies, and emergency availability. The veterinarian is also expected to consult regularly with animal-health staff, provide in-house training, participate in zoo committees, and visit the zoo at least weekly; visits to the environmental center are requested as needed. Respondents must submit a qualification statement addressing the professional, administrative, and financial criteria in the specifications, along with a fee schedule, company and professional information, current New Jersey medical licenses, and the listed required certifications and disclosures. This is a qualifications stage; qualified respondents may later be invited to submit a detailed proposal. The specifications require online submission.
