Description
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) is conducting market research for the Next Generation Airlift (NGAL) program. This initiative aims to identify concepts and technological capabilities for a future strategic airlift aircraft that will eventually supplement and replace current platforms such as the C-5M Super Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III. The NGAL platform is envisioned to offer significant advancements in capacity, range, efficiency, connectivity, survivability, and operational flexibility. Key requirements for proposed aircraft include a wingspan strictly less than 223 feet and the capability to carry a minimum payload of 160,000 pounds over at least 2,500 nautical miles unrefueled. The RFI requests detailed information on aircraft concepts, including development status, dimensions, propulsion systems, payload-range capabilities, cargo-carrying features, system survivability, technology integration (such as digital engineering and Open Mission Systems), maintenance, and logistics support. Responses should also address how concepts prevent, mitigate, or recover from cyber-attacks and reduce reliance on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) at austere locations.
