Description
Indianapolis Public Schools is soliciting construction bids for replacement of the standby generator and main electrical switchboard at the John Morton Finney Center for Educational Services. The work includes a new 750 kW diesel generator, a 2,500-ampere main switchboard, a 2,500-ampere automatic transfer switch, new utility service equipment, distribution switchgear, underground ductwork, concrete pads, protective fencing, demolition and removal of existing equipment, temporary power, and associated electrical wiring, raceways, grounding, and controls. The specifications also require installation of a computer-room air-conditioning unit, cutting and patching, testing, commissioning, and owner training. The bid must include a 5% contingency allowance and a 5% bid bond. The project is expected to begin near June 1, 2027, with intended completion by July 30, 2027. The solicitation requires identification of proposed subcontractors and suppliers, manufacturer information for major electrical equipment, a financial statement, and diverse and local supplier utilization forms. Performance and payment bonds, insurance, and other contract-execution documents are required after award rather than with the bid.
