MASSACHUSETTS BAY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY BOSTON, MA 02116-3974 Bus Sign Fabrication and Installation Services The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is commencing the procurement process for the following: RFP# 104-26: The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (“MBTA” or “Authority”) seeks bus stop sign fabrication and installation services to install approximately 2,500 updated, double-sided bus stop signs at bus stops across the network over a 12-month period from December 1, 2026 – November 30, 2027. Options for additional signage work may be considered depending on the vendor's performance. Bidders will be required to comply with all applicable Equal Employment Opportunity Laws and Regulations, DBE Laws and Regulations, Buy America (U.S. Content) and other regulations as required. Bidders will be required to certify that they are not on the Comptroller General's List of Ineligible Contractors. Bid Documents, Specifications, and other pertinent information obtained September 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM on COMMBUYS Bid BD-27-1206-40000-40000-131695. Description
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is soliciting proposals for the fabrication and installation of approximately 2,500 updated, double-sided bus stop signs across its bus network. The work includes producing front and rear/generic signs from MBTA-provided digital artwork, using specified aluminum, reflective sheeting, coatings, colors, drilling, mounting hardware, and signpost materials; installing signs on existing or new signposts, utility poles, and light poles; removing or relocating signs and posts; and providing samples, certificates of conformance or materials certifications, and reflectivity warranty information. Vendors must document installations with geotagged images and before-and-after photographs, work in phases by corridor or route, coordinate with the MBTA Bus Stop Team, and relocate signs within 72 hours when directed. The contract period is December 1, 2026, through November 30, 2027, with possible additional signage work depending on performance. The response must include the required MBTA forms, pricing, signed terms and conditions, bid deposit, bonding-capacity letters, proof of insurance, and bidder/subcontractor information. Applicable requirements include prevailing wages, Build America, Buy America, federal transit provisions, DBE requirements, safety and ADA compliance, and MBTA security and right-of-way procedures.
