Description
The City of Surrey is seeking a consultant team to develop a 10-year plan, with a five-year review, to guide programs and initiatives that engage, educate, and involve the community in stewardship of Surrey's urban forest. The work includes identifying objectives aligned with the Urban Forest Management Strategy; evaluating communications, interpretive signage, school and public programming, volunteer programs, and tree-planting sponsorship; reviewing comparable plans and best practices; and providing recommendations for improvement. The consultant must conduct an equity analysis using the American Forests Tree Equity Score methodology or a similar approach, develop and implement a consultation strategy, and engage volunteers, program participants, environmental organizations, First Nations, businesses, teachers, youth, and other stakeholders. Required engagement includes a public open house or outreach event, an online public survey, a City-managed project webpage, and workshops or focus groups. The plan should address participation barriers and prioritize equity, reconciliation, accessibility, and partnership development.
