Description
The City of Norwalk is soliciting proposals from an artist or artist team to design, fabricate off-site, and install a permanent exterior public art sculpture combined with facility-identification signage at the Norwalk Cultural Arts Center. The sculpture should reflect the center’s music, dance, painting, and drawing programs, fit within a maximum space of 7 feet tall by 12 feet wide, use durable low- or no-maintenance materials, and be suitable for long-term outdoor display. The artist must address materials, dimensions, weight, site preparation, utilities, community connection, maintenance, and responsibility for design, fabrication, and installation. The City will construct the concrete pad and coordinate site requirements. The proposal must include the required RFP coversheet, narrative and approach, design sketch or rendering, artist or team resumes and qualifications, images of qualifying prior exterior sculptures, an itemized budget, project timeline, and reference sheet. Each artist or team member must demonstrate responsibility for at least two exterior art sculptures within the past five years and provide at least three comparable references. The agreement includes a two-year workmanship/materials warranty, a four-year deterioration remedy for incorporated materials, insurance requirements, and a 100% performance bond required before award. The proposed budget may not exceed $200,000.
