Description
Gwinnett County's Department of Community Services is soliciting suppliers for five-day and seven-day shelf-stable emergency meal kits for senior citizens. The meals will be used when hot-meal delivery is difficult or impossible, must require no refrigeration or heating, have a minimum one-year shelf life, and meet specified nutritional, labeling, packaging, and food-quality requirements. Deliveries are to be made as ordered, generally on a quarterly schedule, with meals available within 14 days of ordering. The bid schedule includes approximately 4,000 five-day kits and 400 seven-day kits in the primary section, plus optional pricing for diabetic, carbohydrate-restricted, low-calorie, low-fat, low-cholesterol, sodium-restricted, vegetarian, renal, and mechanical-soft meal kits. Proposed menus and nutritional analyses must be provided, and menus must be developed or acquired by a registered dietitian. The awarded supplier must have at least two years of relevant experience within the past five years and satisfy the County's insurance requirements.
