Description
Madison County is soliciting bids to construct and install two above-ground, premanufactured steel community storm shelters, each measuring 10 by 48 feet and designed for at least 87 occupants for two hours. The shelters must meet specified wind, debris-impact, accessibility, ventilation, and safety requirements, with design and certification by licensed professional engineers. The work at each site includes a monolithic concrete foundation and accessible sidewalk, delivery and installation of the shelter, an emergency generator and transfer switch, electrical connections, two dehumidifiers, an ADA-compliant chemical restroom, grading, and landscaping. The contractor must also provide the required project certifications and comply with the specified construction, permitting, insurance, and bonding requirements.
