Description
The Omak Colville Head Start/Early Head Start Program, part of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, is soliciting proposals for the design and construction of a traditional-style smokehouse with an attached covered structure for hanging game and processed hides. The project aims to preserve and teach traditional practices, provide a safe and functional space, support cultural identity and intergenerational learning, and create an outdoor learning environment. The scope of work includes designing and building a weather-resistant smokehouse with proper ventilation and hanging capabilities, and constructing an attached covered structure with beams for hanging game and designated space for hides, ensuring adequate airflow and protection while allowing for easy cleaning. The contractor will be responsible for site preparation, drainage, compliance with all applicable codes, and incorporating cultural design elements. The project location is the Omak Colville Early Childhood Education site at 13 Siya Road, Omak, WA.
