Description
The City of Melbourne is seeking proposals from eligible nonprofit organizations to administer its State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Purchase Assistance with or without Rehabilitation strategy for fiscal years 2025–2026 and 2026–2027. The program will provide down payment, closing-cost, and housing-rehabilitation assistance to very-low-, low-, and moderate-income homebuyers purchasing homes within Melbourne city limits, serving households with incomes at or below 120 percent of area median income. SHIP funds may not be used to purchase, rehabilitate, or repair mobile homes. The anticipated award is $300,000 for fiscal year 2025–2026 and $200,000 for fiscal year 2026–2027. Maximum assistance to eligible homebuyers is $37,500 for very-low-income households, $35,000 for low-income households, and $27,500 for moderate-income households, with an additional $10,000 available for eligible combinations of down payment, closing costs, and rehabilitation. Proposal applications will be available beginning September 28, 2026; selection criteria must be obtained from the City’s Housing & Urban Improvement Division.
