Advanced Technology International has issued a Request for Solutions under the Training and Readiness Accelerator II (TREX II) for development of a 120mm mortar training system. The system is intended for use in the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle and Stryker M1129 Mortar Carrier, and the notice describes the effort as prototype development to improve warfighter readiness. The training system must be installable and removable by mortar crews in under five minutes per operation, accommodate a training round weighing 25–35 pounds, and avoid creating a safety hazard for the crew. It must also replicate adjust-fire and multiple-round fire-for-effect capabilities, with a stated reference rate of up to 16 rounds per minute.
