Description
The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) is conducting market research to identify potential sources for a Hybrid Upright/Inverted Fluorescence Microscope. This system must be capable of transforming between upright and inverted configurations to support diverse sample types. Key features include a motorized Z-drive, an intelligent/automated objective nosepiece, transmitted brightfield LED illumination with phase contrast, and a motorized Epi-Fluorescence module with mercury-free LED illumination supporting at least 5 channels. The system requires high-performance Plan Fluorite and Apochromat objectives, an Extra Long Working Distance (ELWD) Universal Condenser, and specific magnifications with corresponding numerical apertures and working distances. Fluorescence filter sets for DAPI, YFP, and TRITC are also required. The microscope must include a Live-Cell Full Enclosure Incubation System capable of maintaining temperatures from ambient to 40°C, a stage-top humidity chamber, and an input port for 5% CO2. A tabletop mechanical vibration isolation platform is also specified. For digital imaging, the system requires an integrated dual-camera setup: a minimum 5MP Color CMOS camera for brightfield and a minimum 5MP Monochrome CMOS camera for fluorescence. A high-performance system controller with at least 32GB RAM and 1TB Hard Drive, a dedicated hardware joystick, and a large format, high-resolution 32-inch 4K external display are also part of the requirement. The software should support advanced multi-dimensional image acquisition, including Time-Lapse, Multi-Point, Mosaic, Multi-Channel, and Z-Stack imaging, with enhanced functionality for focus mapping and high-speed image tiling. On-site installation, training, and a minimum 1-year manufacturer warranty are required.
