The U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (ETA), is issuing updated guidance and application information for the National Dislocated Worker Grant (DWG) Program. This program provides discretionary grants to address major economic dislocations and other events that cause significant job losses. The guidance covers two main types of grants: Disaster Recovery DWGs, which fund temporary employment for cleanup and recovery efforts following declared disasters or public health emergencies, and Employment Recovery DWGs, which support reemployment services for dislocated workers following events like mass layoffs or plant closures. Eligibility for these grants varies depending on the type of DWG requested. For Disaster Recovery DWGs, eligible applicants include state workforce agencies, outlying areas, and Indian tribal governments. For Employment Recovery DWGs, eligible applicants include state workforce agencies, local workforce development boards, entities eligible for Indian and Native American Program funding, and other entities demonstrating capability to respond to dislocations. The program aims to provide critical employment and training services to help individuals return to unsubsidized employment.
