Description
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking information from vendors capable of providing commercially available or modifiable manned personal aerial vehicles. The vehicle must use vertical or near-vertical, non-jet lift; maintain a level attitude during takeoff and landing; launch in under three minutes after occupancy; use enclosed rotor or propeller blades; provide at least one hour of flight before refueling; and support either one occupant weighing at least 275 pounds, two occupants with a combined capacity of at least 600 pounds, or both. The requested vehicle must include emergency parachute and aquatic-float capabilities, protected cockpit egress, geofencing, vehicle-towed-trailer portability, compatibility with standard helicopter pads for emergency use, and applicable 14 CFR Part 103 and beyond-Part-103 operating capabilities. Respondents must address the 11 questions in the attached RFI, including estimated vehicle pricing, a five-year service and maintenance plan, applicable federal or military contract vehicles, business size and socioeconomic categories, manufacturing and component origins, available models or prototypes, and anticipated commercial availability. Responses may not exceed five pages; this is market research only and is not a solicitation or commitment to award a contract.
