Description
The City of Somerville is soliciting proposals from qualified operators to operate and manage Founders Memorial Ice Skating Rink. The selected operator will provide day-to-day management, staffing, programming, maintenance, cleaning, utilities, safety and security procedures, revenue collection, financial controls, monthly gross-receipts reporting, and annual reconciliation. The operator must provide public skating and accommodate youth and adult hockey and figure-skating groups, including specified access and scheduling preferences for Somerville programs and free skate rentals for Somerville High School students on early-release Wednesdays. The operator will use the City's ice resurfacer, provide trained and STAR/ISI-certified operators, perform routine equipment maintenance, comply with Massachusetts CORI background-check requirements, and obtain required insurance before contract execution. Proposals must include an operational and services plan, financial and revenue projections, proposed revenue-share percentage, public ice-time rates, qualifications and experience, at least two relevant references, and the listed City forms. The initial term is one year beginning November 1, 2026, with two additional one-year renewal options at the City's discretion.
