Northwest Shoals Community College is soliciting bids from ACCS-prequalified general contractors for a Large Public Works project to repair and upgrade one hydraulic freight elevator at the Bevill Center on the Phil Campbell Campus. The scope includes a new solid-state nonproprietary controller with Fireman's Service Phase I and II capabilities and diagnostics; a new landing system, car-top safety inspection station, hoistway wiring, and travel cable; two ADA-compliant car operating panels with digital position indicators, voice enunciation, Braille, alarm bells, emergency lighting, and telephone service; additional ADA-compliant hall fixtures; two door operators with Door Position Monitoring; a new hydraulic pumping unit; two 3D door curtains; two tri-tronics; wiring diagrams; and an annual Category 1 safety test. The completed work must include a one-year warranty on parts and labor. Contractors must complete and submit the ACCS Contractor Prequalification Application, including company information, Alabama general contractor licensing, key-personnel resumes, scheduling practices, financial and workload information, bonding-company documentation, project examples, insurance qualifications, safety information, and a notarized certification. Prequalification is required before bidding, and the bid is expected to be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The estimated project duration is three months; the bid documents also require a bid bond of at least 5% of the bid amount, capped at $10,000, and performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract sum when applicable.
