Description
Limestone County Schools (LCS) has submitted an application for American Rescue Plan (ARP) ESSER funds for fiscal year 2022. The application outlines the district's plans to use these funds to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students and staff. Key initiatives include implementing prevention and mitigation strategies such as mask availability, physical distancing, and enhanced cleaning protocols. To address learning loss, LCS will provide summer learning and enrichment programs, comprehensive after-school tutoring, and extended school year services. The district will also hire additional personnel including teachers, counselors, social workers, and nurses, purchase 250 interactive SMARTboards, invest in professional development, and acquire curriculum materials. A significant portion of the funds ($7 million) will be used toward the construction of a new Elkmont Elementary School to alleviate overcrowding. The application details budgets for each category, with all expenditures to be completed by September 30, 2024.
