Description
The City of Wichita is soliciting bids from two contractors to install long and short water utility service lines under work orders issued by the Water Distribution Division. Contractors must furnish labor, equipment, and specified materials, including service tubing, saddles, corporation stops, meter setters, meter boxes, pigtails, and tracer wire, while the City supplies certain meters, ERT devices, rebar, and selected tapping saddles. Work includes tapping water mains without shutdown, installing service lines and meter setters, excavation, utility locating, traffic control, trench safety, backfilling, testing, documentation, and restoration of yards, driveways, sidewalks, paving, irrigation systems, and other disturbed property. Each completed work order requires a completed City work order form, location and materials information, before-and-after photographs, and a single PDF emailed to the Water Distribution office within 15 working days. The contract term is one year with four one-year renewal options by mutual agreement. The City expects to issue work orders to both successful contractors, does not guarantee a minimum or maximum quantity, and will award based on the lowest and best total net bid. A five-percent bid bond is required with each bid; the successful vendors must furnish 100-percent performance and labor-and-material payment bonds. Required insurance includes commercial general liability, automobile liability, workers’ compensation, and employers’ liability coverage. The solicitation lists estimated quantities of 200 long and 200 short service lines for bid evaluation only.
