Description
The City of Boulder is seeking information from potential users of its city-owned fiber backbone to explore broader broadband availability, expanded community service offerings, recovery of the City's investment, and additional public benefits. The backbone consists of parallel two-inch conduits, including one conduit containing a 432-strand fiber optic cable deployed and spliced for citywide coverage. The City is considering public-private partnerships, partnerships with nonprofit or government entities, leases, sales, licenses, or other dispositions involving all or portions of the network. This is an information-gathering process only; no award will result from the RFI, and participation is not a prerequisite for any subsequent RFP or other disposition process. Respondents must be potential users of the network rather than consultants or project managers offering services to the City.
