Description
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is soliciting a general contractor for construction of a new open-air shelter-storage facility with an attached storage garage at Magee Marsh Wildlife Area. The base work includes general construction, site preparation, concrete and structural work, roofing, fiber-cement siding and trim, doors, electrical service and distribution, lighting, fire-protection specialties, landscaping-related work, and associated materials and labor. The project includes a $25,000 allowance for a new electrical transformer if the existing visitor-center transformer cannot support the additional load. Addendum 1 revises the drawings and specifications, removes special inspections and snow guards from the scope, clarifies flood-vent and framing requirements, and requires bidders to acknowledge the addendum. Bidders must price the base work and three alternates: an optional fishing dock estimated at $68,131, optional landscaping estimated at $25,936.80, and a $6,300 deduction for an exposed-fastener metal roof. The pre-bid materials identify a $296,694.01 base bid including the transformer allowance, a 120-calendar-day contract duration, prevailing-wage compliance, a 5% EDGE participation goal, and electronic submission through Bid Express. The original bid guaranty must be delivered to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources within three days after the bid deadline.
