Description
The County of Maui is soliciting construction services for Job No. 25-47, Wailea Alanui Drive and Makena Alanui Culvert Repairs. The work includes removal of existing headwalls, catch basins, and a portion of an existing 42-inch corrugated metal pipe; construction of a new concrete headwall and footing, cement rubble masonry apron, Type C catch basin, and curb-and-gutter transition; and rehabilitation of existing culverts using grouted high-density polyethylene (HDPE) liners. The proposal schedule identifies a 66-inch HDPE lining for an existing 78-inch culvert and a 36-inch HDPE lining with Hydrobell inlet devices for two existing 42-inch culverts. The contractor must provide traffic control, erosion and water-pollution controls, archaeological monitoring, mobilization, and related construction activities. The specifications require an installer pre-approved by the pipe manufacturer, documented experience with at least three similar pipe-lining projects, manufacturer-qualified welding technicians, and submission of ISO certification documentation with the bid. The proposal must be completed, signed in ink, and uploaded with a bid bond. The bid documents also require a 120-working-day completion period from the Notice to Proceed and establish a bid security requirement of at least 5 percent for proposals of $25,000 or more.
