Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting market research for an anticipated construction contract to replace the failed Unit 1 speed increaser gearbox at the Webbers Falls Powerhouse. The anticipated scope includes complete design and engineering; fabrication and supply of a new gearbox suitable for a 25 MW hydroelectric unit; factory assembly and testing; removal of the existing Falk gearbox; foundation inspection and any required concrete modifications; installation, precision alignment, commissioning, and operational testing. The Government may consider an identical second gearbox for long-term storage as a spare. The replacement system must provide an 8.533:1 speed increase from 60.24 RPM to 514 RPM, accommodate approximately 3,086,335 foot-pounds of turbine shaft torque, and meet specified AGMA, ISO, ASTM, AWS, and bearing-life requirements. A dry-sump, pressure-lubricated system, monitoring and inspection provisions, labyrinth seals, and a design life of 200,000 operating hours are required. Respondents must submit an Experience/Capabilities Statement in PDF format, limited to five pages, addressing firm information, CAGE Code and UEI, relevant capabilities, teaming arrangements, and up to three relevant projects completed within the past three years.
