Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture requires two commercial flail mowers for orchard vegetation management and pruning-residue mulching: one 20-foot trailed, triple-mower configuration with hydraulically retractable wings and one smaller, low-profile side-shift orchard mower. Both units must be compatible with the Government’s John Deere 6145M tractors and use a dedicated 1,000 RPM PTO system. The 20-foot mower must provide an approximately 236-inch cutting width, retract to approximately 94 inches for transport, mulch grass and prunings up to 2 inches in diameter, and allow independent hydraulic control of the wings and cutting height. The orchard mower must have a 118-inch cutting width, low-profile under-canopy design, approximately 28 inches of hydraulic side shift, and the ability to mulch grass, brushwood, wood chips, corn stubble, and branches up to approximately 3.5 inches in diameter. Brand-name-or-equal products are acceptable, but equal products must include brand, make, model, and descriptive literature demonstrating compliance with the salient specifications. Quotations must include pricing for both contract line items and a completed, signed SF-1449.
