Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Administration, on behalf of the Agricultural Research Service, seeks one new high-capacity farm machinery planter to support Integrated Cropping Systems research. The requested equipment is a John Deere 1745 planter or equal, capable of planting eight rows at 30-inch spacing, with mechanical seed drive, pro-shaft drive, 1.6-bushel seed hoppers, markers, gauge wheels, steel scrapers, manual pneumatic downforce, rubber-tire closing, seed-delivery monitoring, row cleaners, two 150-gallon liquid-fertilizer tanks with piston pump and single-disk openers, population and spacing monitoring, fertilizer-pressure sensing, Promax 40 corn discs, and soybean seed-metering discs. Liquid fertilizer is sold separately. The contractor must appraise and provide a trade-in credit for the existing 1989 John Deere 7200 planter, provide the new planter with a Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin and corresponding certificates for major parts and components at quote submission, assemble the equipment at no additional cost, and deliver it within 210 days after award. The quote must include separate firm-fixed prices for the planter, trade-in, assembly, and freight. A printed manual or equivalent descriptive and operating literature is required, and the planter must carry a one-year warranty after inspection and acceptance. Award will use a lowest-priced, technically acceptable evaluation, with a single purchase order anticipated.
