Description

The USDA Forest Service is soliciting a firm-fixed-price contractor to reconstruct the Selway Suspension Bridge within the Bitterroot Selway Wilderness. Work includes mobilization; transporting materials by air or pack; removing, staging, and disposing of existing timber components; drilling and treating government-furnished lumber; installing replacement floor beams, stringers, decking, curbs, railings, running planks, and hardware; performing minor bridge maintenance; and reclaiming staging and camping areas. The contractor must furnish all labor, replacement hardware—including nuts, bolts, fasteners, nails, U-bolts, and malleable washers—tools, safety equipment, transportation, and access permissions, while complying with non-motorized wilderness access and non-mechanized construction restrictions. Removed wood must be hauled to and stacked at Running Creek Ranch or another location agreed to by the ranch, contractor, and contracting officer. The quotation must include a completed Schedule of Items, an experience and past-performance narrative covering at least five projects completed within the preceding five years, a 20% bid bond guarantee, and acknowledgment of Amendment 0001 if applicable. The amendment clarifies that plate washers are excluded from the contractor-furnished hardware and that the contractor must adjust debris-net elevation to allow safe passage beneath the bridge. The period of performance is June 1, 2027, through July 31, 2027, with completion required by July 31, 2027.
