Description
The City of Santa Monica is soliciting construction bids for sewer lateral repairs serving beach restrooms. The work includes locating and removing existing sewer lateral piping and cleanouts; abandoning designated existing laterals; furnishing and installing six-inch PVC SDR-35 sewer pipe, bends, couplings, transitions, connections to existing sewer infrastructure, and new cleanouts; and performing excavation, trenching, shoring, bedding, backfill, compaction, and disposal. The contractor must also provide surveying and construction staking, traffic and pedestrian control, stormwater and non-stormwater pollution controls, temporary fencing and public safety measures, site cleanup, concrete and asphalt restoration, landscaping and irrigation restoration, stairway reconstruction, striping, water-service-related work, project scheduling, weekly reports and photos, and coordination to minimize disruption to beach and restroom operations. The project estimate is $700,000, the contract time is 180 calendar days, prevailing-wage requirements apply, and the contractor must hold a California Class B license and perform at least 50 percent of the contract work with its own employees, subject to the stated specialty-item exception.
