Description
The U.S. Army is conducting market research for commercially available or developmental lightweight, low-bulk parachute canopy fabrics intended as direct replacements for PIA-C-44378 Type IV fabric used in the T-11R reserve canopy. Proposed materials must be compatible with existing canopy design and manufacturing processes, including suspension lines, reinforcement tapes, and packing methods. Responses should provide comparative performance data covering tear and tensile strength, air permeability, abrasion resistance, UV exposure, snag resistance, durability, deployment shock loading, fabric weight, pack-volume reduction, seam efficiency, sewability, existing use, and any PFAS-free performance or manufacturing impacts. Respondents should also address domestic availability consistent with the Berry Amendment and Buy America Act, manufacturing capacity, production ramp-up timing, and pricing for 1,500 linear yards and full-rate production. Responses must be in PDF or DOCX format, limited to 10 pages excluding cover pages and test-data appendices, and include the company name, CAGE code, point of contact, MRL and TRL statements, and business size under NAICS 314999.
