Description
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is offering approximately $7.2 million in Federal Fiscal Year 2026 grants for eligible publicly owned treatment works discharging into the Long Island Sound watershed in Massachusetts. Eligible projects must reduce nitrogen discharges and may include personnel, planning, engineering and permitting, facility assessments, feasibility studies, cost analyses, equipment purchases, denitrification solutions, facility upgrades, and construction activities. Collection-system and outfall projects are not eligible. Track One optimization projects may request $500,000 to $6,500,000 per application for facility upgrades and denitrification solutions. Track Two assessment projects may request $50,000 to $250,000 per facility for assessments and related studies. Applications must use the provided application format, include the required project information and supporting materials, and be no more than 10 single-spaced pages excluding attachments. Required materials include the application cover sheet, project narrative, budget workbook, and applicable staff biographies or resumes and commitment letters. Work funded by the grant must be completed by September 30, 2031.
