Description
The Town of Southington is soliciting bids to replace Bridge No. 131017 carrying Marion Avenue over an unnamed brook. The work includes removal of the existing masonry and corrugated-metal culvert, installation of a 10-foot-wide by 8-foot-high precast concrete box culvert with natural streambed material, precast walls and headwalls, cofferdam and dewatering, water handling, riprap and outlet protection, and utility relocations. The project also includes full-depth roadway and driveway-apron reconstruction, storm drainage, guiderail and thrie-beam attachments, pavement markings, traffic control, erosion and sedimentation controls, and site restoration. Marion Avenue will be closed and detoured for approximately one month during July 2027, with the roadway scheduled to reopen by August 1, 2027. The contract requires a 150-calendar-day performance period in the agreement, while the project specifications also state a 242-calendar-day contract duration; bidders should resolve this apparent inconsistency before submitting. A 10% bid bond is required, and performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract value are required after award.
