Description
The USDA Agricultural Research Service is seeking one automated push-probe soil sampler with triple-depth sampling and GPS capability, mountable on a utility vehicle. The sampler must collect soil cores to a depth of 3 feet; automatically separate cores into three discrete depth samples without post-processing; composite samples from multiple cores; allow programmable sampling depths, intervals, and sample counts; collect samples into open containers; and use a 3/4- to 1-inch inside-diameter sample tube. It must include a hydraulic cylinder and hydraulic hammer, complete a core cycle in less than 30 seconds, use an approximately 5-horsepower stand-alone engine, weigh no more than 300 pounds, record sample locations by GPS, and have controls accessible from the vehicle driver's seat. The acquisition is for a single firm-fixed-price commercial-product order, with delivery required within 120 days after receipt of order. Quotations must include pricing for the item, the ability to meet delivery requirements, and a detailed explanation of any specification that cannot be met. The government will evaluate technical approach, price, and past performance using a comparative best-value methodology.
