South Dakota Wildland Fire seeks contractors to reduce hazardous fuels on approximately 80.76 acres south of Rapid City. Work includes thinning specified conifer species to target spacing, removing insect-infested trees, limbing and cutting trees, and treating slash by chipping, mulching, grinding, or piling and burning. Contractors must describe their proposed slash-disposal method and justify any material left on site. Salvage rights are available to offset project costs, and work must follow South Dakota Best Management Practices and the detailed treatment and disposal specifications in the solicitation. Proposals must include a work assessment and approach, a point-by-point response to the RFP requirements, proposed options or alternatives, and information about at least three similar current or previous contracts. The contract term is two years, with possible one-year renewals. Multiple contractors may be selected. Required insurance documentation is due from the selected contractor after selection, not with the proposal.
