Description
The Department of the Army is making available a software framework, known as Warped Alloy, designed to enhance Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems. This framework allows the SDR signal chain to dynamically adapt its capabilities based on the radio frequency (RF) environment and respond in real-time at the protocol level. The Army is releasing this framework to foster collaboration with industry partners, encouraging them to integrate it into their SDR products to increase flexibility in RF operations and advance SDR technology. Key features include rapid reconfiguration of SDR signal processing modules within the FPGA and FPGA-based Physical Layer (PHY) and Media Access Control (MAC) development. Available elements for industry include the FPGA top-level framework, a common C-based API for SDR-agnostic applications, a Transport Interface (TI) for message transport, an exemplar data generation/consumption module for testing, and comprehensive documentation. To access the software, interested parties must complete a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and then create an account on the Test Resource Management Center (TRMC) to access the codebase. Instructions for completing the NDA and setting up a TRMC account are provided.
