Description
Lee County Schools is soliciting sealed bids for a single-prime construction contract to build a new approximately 20,727-square-foot transportation facility at 416 Cox Maddox Road in Sanford, North Carolina. The work includes offices and support spaces, maintenance bays, an approximately 5,000-square-foot open-air vehicle storage building, sitework, concrete and asphalt paving, utilities, storm drainage, erosion control, structural systems, building envelope, interior finishes, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, communications, and security systems. A 6,000-square-foot warehouse is included as an add alternate, along with several preferred-brand alternates for building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire-alarm equipment. The bid package requires a completed single-prime bid form, non-collusion affidavit, 5-percent bid security, bid-bond power of attorney, minority-business participation forms, a statement of qualifications demonstrating at least five similar projects within the past three years with references, and a statement of ability to staff the project. The apparent low bidder must submit the applicable minority-business affidavit or good-faith-effort documentation within 72 hours after notification. The successful bidder must provide 100-percent performance and labor-and-material payment bonds and required insurance. Construction is scheduled to begin September 1, 2026, reach substantial completion October 1, 2027, and reach final closeout October 27, 2027.
